Guy G. Stroumsa is Professor of the Study of the Abrahamic Religions; Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford; Martin Buber Professor of Comparative Religion, Emeritus, Hebrew University of Jerusalem; Dr. h.c. (Zurich); Member of Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities; Alexander von Humboldt Research Award (2008); Chevalier dans l’Ordre du Mérite. He has mainly worked on religious movements and contacts in late antiquity and on the early history of the modern study of religion, and have authored ten books, co-edited fifteen, and written about 120 scholarly articles. The two poles of his work are reflected in two of his last publications: The End of Sacrifice: Religious Transformations of Late Antiquity (Chicago, Chicago University Press, 2009); A New Science: The Discovery of Religion in the Age of Reason (Cambridge, Mass., Harvard University Press, 2010).
